Despite labor unrest disrupting the garment industry, which is Bangladesh's top export sector, the country's exports saw a significant rise in September. Protests and production halts affected factories in areas like Ashulia and Gazipur. However, Bangladesh managed to achieve a 16.27% increase in goods exports last month. According to the National Board of Revenue (NBR), exports totaled $3.86 billion in September 2024, compared to $3.32 billion during the same month last year—a $540 million increase. The figures include exports from the Export Processing Zones (EPZ) and sample exports, although these contributions were minimal.
