Pesticide Market Reaches Tk 5,000 Crore as Usage Rises 81% in Five Years

Pesticide use in the country has grown sharply over the years, rising from just 4,000 metric tons in 1972 to 40,000 metric tons in 2022. These chemicals are mainly applied in growing rice, vegetables, and fruits. In the past five years alone, pesticide consumption has jumped by 81.5%. Today, the pesticide market is valued at around Tk 5,000 crore.
