Fourth round of talks set for February as both nations aim to conclude their first-ever Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
Bangladesh and Japan are on track to establish their first-ever free trade agreement (EPA), marking a milestone in bilateral relations. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam announced that the third round of negotiations was successfully held in Japan from December 18–20. The discussions, led by Bangladesh's Ministry of Commerce, are part of a series of five planned negotiation rounds this year.
If concluded, this will be Bangladesh’s first free trade agreement with any country. The fourth round of talks is scheduled for February in Dhaka, followed by the fifth round in April in Tokyo. The negotiations cover 21 detailed chapters aimed at strengthening economic ties and facilitating trade between the two nations.
