Bangladesh Set to Receive $400 Million ADB Loan by December, Says Finance Adviser

Bangladesh is expected to secure a $400 million loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) by December, as part of the government's budget support. This information was shared by Finance and Trade Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed after a meeting with an ADB delegation at the Secretariat in Dhaka today. He also met with representatives from the Japan International Development Agency (JICA) and the Acting High Commissioner of Australia. Salehuddin noted that JICA, along with Australia, is also showing interest in providing further financial assistance. Additionally, Bangladesh has requested an extra $3 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to boost its ongoing $4.7 billion program. Salehuddin highlighted JICA’s significant role in financing crucial infrastructure and disaster management projects in the country.
