Experts say that with early detection and timely, complete treatment, up to 90% of breast cancer patients can be cured. However, the risk of cancer returning remains. The recurrence happens because some cancer cells may remain undetected in the body even after treatment. These cells might not show up in tests like CT scans or mammograms, making it difficult for patients to notice any early signs. In many cases, the risk of recurrence is highest within three to four years of recovery, but for some, it can happen even 10 to 12 years later.
